Why all good engagement deserves a good story of impact

Impact. You know it's essential to demonstrate the impact of your community engagement work. Did you know that story-telling is a great way to communicate that impact?

A story is a powerful tool and one of the best ways to answer the all-important question: so what? In a few words, a story demonstrates the results of an activity and does it in a way that compels the reader (or listener) to care about it.

All community engagement professionals can benefit from wielding the tool of story-telling. What can a story of impact do for you? It can attract the participation of new community partners, inspire your general manager to share the story with others, inform your stakeholders so they're excited to do more, or convince a funder to underwrite future projects. The people in your station, your community and your state need to know about the important work you're doing. So, tell them a story.
